World of Outlaws point leader and Silver Cup winner, Donny Schatz.

SARVER, Pa. (EYT) – Despite a rainy weekend there was plenty of action at Lernerville Speedway this past week highlighted by Tuesday’s Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup.

A packed house watched Donny Schatz win the first of the twin 30 lap features and the overall Silver Cup championship, the fifth of his career. Cody Darrah was the victor in the second 30 lap feature driving for Nascar star, Kasey Kahne. Ed Lynch Jr was the highest finishing western Pa driver in the first feature with 14th, and Carl Bowser was the highest finishing western Pa driver in the second feature with a 13th place finish.

Friday it was the late models taking center stage as the Elite 8 Late Model Series made its first visit to the Sarver oval which saw Jared Miley take home the $3,000 winner’s check. Other winners included Rich Michael Jr in the Renegade modified feature, Adam Hilton in the crate modifieds and Jim Fosnaught continued this stellar season with another win in the sportsman class.

Jared Miley won the inaugural Elite 8 late model race at Lernerville on Friday.

Things will get back to normal this Friday as the Fab Four divisions return to action at Lernerville Speedway.

Rain washed out the Elite 8 late model show scheduled for Pittsburgh Motor Speedway on Saturday and also action at Sharon Speedway and Mercer Raceway Park. All three tracks will be back in action this Saturday while Mercer will also have racing Sunday featuring the rescheduled BRP modified tour race and the Penn-Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series.

Sportsman’s Speedway near Knox was back in action Sunday and saw rookie sprint driver, Will Fleming, of Brookville score his first full size sprint victory. The small block modified saw repeat winner, Jimmy Holden, of Tiona score the victory. Sportsman’s will have another regular show this Sunday along with an appearance by the vintage cars.

Rookie sprint driver, Will Flemming, scored his first career 305 sprint win at Sportsman's Speedway on Sunday

After Lernerville Speedway the World of Outlaws moved east to Lincoln Speedway where defending Outlaw champ, Daryn Pittman, scored the win. Friday and Saturday they traveled to the famed Williams Grove Speedway where local drivers, Greg Hodnett and Lance Dewease, defended their home turf with wins.

The World of Outlaws late models spent the week in the Dakotas where Darrell Lanigan and Tim Fuller scored victories.

In closing we want to send get well wishes out to local sprint car racer Jack Sodeman Jr. after he suffered a broken leg during Tuesday’s race at Lernerville. Right now it looks like it will be two months before Sodeman will be able to race again. Hopefully Jack will be back at the local tracks soon.
