RiverStone Mansion Will Open to Public for First Time Since 2008

FOXBURG, Pa. (EYT) — For the first time since the summer of 2008, on Saturday July 14th 2012, the RiverStone Mansion at RiverStone Farm in Foxburg, will be opened to the general public.

Dr. Arthur and Patricia Steffee the owners and the restorers of the historic Fox Family property have graciously agreed to open the house and grounds for this event as a fund raiser for Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts. A full day of events including music, food and a Chinese auction are planned. Gates will be open from 11:00 AM through 6:00 PM.

House tours on Saturday, July 14, are scheduled on the hour, beginning at noon, with the last tour given at 5:00 PM. Each tour will last approximately 45 minutes. There will be access to all three floors. There will be volunteers in every room to explain details and answer questions.

Parking will be away from the main compound with a choice to walk or be transported by golf cart to the house and grounds. The carriage house, aviary, greenhouse, barns, and walled gardens will all be open to walking tours and viewing.

There will be live music in the house and staged performances on the grounds. The music will feature two acclaimed regional groups, The Church Street Blues and Border Ride. Music will range from upbeat bluegrass, gospel and old country.

Vintage cars will be strategically placed throughout the grounds to add ambiance to the setting. A collection of historic and old firearms, pre-1900’s, will also be on display. To keep the theme of a summer picnic, a pig roast with full fixings, salads, fresh corn etc. will begin at 2:00 PM and continue until 5:00 PM.

Carriage rides will also be offered during the afternoon. There will be a Chinese Auction all day with the winners determined at approximately 5:00 PM. Winners do not need to be present. Chinese Auction items will include Foxburg gift baskets, Steelers tickets, golf packages, art work and other unique items.
