According to a representative of Venango County 911, downed trees were reported in President Township, Pine Grove Township, and Cranberry Township.

No flooding or other damages were reported.

The storm caused much more damage in Clarion County, producing strong winds and heavy downpours that led to multiple issues including a near-drowning in northern Clarion County.

Clarion County 9-1-1 took a call around 7:38 p.m. for a near-drowning near Wolf’s Corners in Washington Township. Authorities say a teen male was sucked into a storm drain. Shippenville EMS was dispatched to the scene.

exploreVenango.com spoke to the teenage victim’s father, who said his son suffered a fracture in his back as well as a lot of scrapes and bruises due to the incident. He said his son’s doctor is also concerned about the amount of water the boy took in during the ordeal.

The boy’s father said the incident occurred when the boy and some friends were “fooling around” sliding in ditches near Wolf’s Corners after the carnival closed for the night, and they didn’t see the culvert they were sliding toward.

He credits his son’s two friends with saving his life by dragging the boy back out of the culvert.

“It’s a hell of a lesson for a young guy to learn that way,” the father said.
