Robert HugheyRobert A. Hughey, 81, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at his home in Kent, Ohio following a brief illness.

He leaves his wife of 63 years, Mary Lee (Taylor) Hughey; his five children, Mary Pat (John) Lambert, Robert T. (Barbara) Hughey, Suzanne Hughey Koerner, Janet (Robert) Tompkins, and James (Patricia) Hughey; his eleven grandchildren, Megan (Kyle) Weichman, Taylor Hughey, Benton (Robyn) Koerner, Michael (Sarah) Koerner, Emily (Ben) Quigley, Thomas Koerner, Bridget and Rachael Tompkins, Sarah, Patrick (Julie) and Bryan Hughey; and five great-grandchildren, Jude, Case and Samuel Koerner, Carleigh Koerner, and Charles Koerner; and his sister, Nancy Gomola of Oil City, and her children, Joe (Linda) Gomola, Jane (Joe) Wakeling and Julie (Allan) Bly.

Born and raised in Oil City, Pennsylvania, he graduated from St. Joseph High School, and while in high school, he worked for his father’s dairy, the Purity Milk Company.

He and his wife, Mary Lee Taylor, married in St. Joseph Church on June 5,1954. He and his family moved to Stow, Ohio in 1978 when he was transferred while employed by Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company of Franklin, PA.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree for 60 years. He enjoyed spending time on his pontoon boat, The Papatoon, with his family and volunteering at the Akron Children’s Hospital.

Viewing will be held at Redmon Funeral Home in Stow, Ohio on Friday, May 12, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Additional Viewing will be held in Oil City, PA. on Saturday, May 13 in the greeting space of St. Joseph Church, beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Rev. John Miller will preside

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Oil City, PA.
