Robert “Bob” A. Lang

Robert “Bob” A. Lang, 89 of Springboro, OH, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at the Kettering Medical Center in Kettering, OH.

Born on March 1, 1930 in Franklin, PA, he was the son of the late Wallace and Esther (Eckel) Lang. After graduating high school, Robert attended Notre Dame University and played football.

He married his first wife, Mary Jane Wensel, on August 27, 1955; she preceded him in death on July 6, 1985. He then married the former Mary L. Stewart on July 10, 1989; she preceded him in death on March 2, 2011.

Robert was currently married to the former Sue Lowry Webster; she survives him.

Robert proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. While serving, he attained the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the Korean Service Medal w/1 Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in September of 1954.

When he returned home, he worked for Pennsylvania’s Department of Transportation (PennDOT) for over 30 years in Contract Management as an Engineer.

In his spare time, Robert kept himself busy with his clubs and hobbies. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic War Veterans, and a 3rd Degree Knight with the Masons. He also enjoyed gambling.

In addition to his wife, Sue Lowry Webster Lang, Robert is survived by his two sons, Terry Lang and his wife, Linda, of Franklin, and John Lang and his wife, Sara, of Texas; his four step-sons, Richard Webster and his wife, Libby, Kenneth Webster and his wife, Rhonda, Daniel Webster and his wife, Vickie, and Stanley Webster and his friend, Brittany; his 2 grandchildren, Andrew Lang and his wife, Suanne, and Brandon Lang, both of Franklin; his ten step-grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Kyler, and Colin Lang; and his fourteen step-great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Jane Lang; his second wife, Mary L. Lang; and an infant son.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA 16323, from 10 am to 12:30 pm.

A Funeral Mass for Robert will take place also on Friday, May 17, 2019 at the St. Patrick Church 949 Liberty Street, Franklin, PA 16323, beginning at 1 pm, with Monsignor John Herbein, officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.

Interment will be held at St. Patrick Cemetery.
