Robert C. Cunningham

| September 12, 2014

Robert C. Cunningham, of Clarion Township, passed from this life into eternal life with his Lord and Savior on September 11, 2014.

Born on September 19, 1926, in Good Hope, West Virginia, he was the youngest and last surviving child of Herman and Lillian (Curry) Cunningham. Bob was married on August 4, 1950 to Mary Lee Weeter and she survives along with their daughter Brenda, her husband Kevin Moon, and their son, Amos.

In his 88 years of life, he drove tractor trailer for R&H Trucking of Clarion, being the last driver to park his tractor when they closed the company. He then drove school bus for a year with Haines Transportation before going to work for Overland Trucking. Bob then went on to drive for Trailwoods of Minnesota, the company from which he retired. He enjoyed sharing his many adventures of driving.

Bob most enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling the United States and Canada. He would often be asked to provide travel directions for friends. Bob and his wife never missed a Christmas with their daughter and her family regardless of where their son-in-law was stationed. A memorable trip for him was aboard the U.S.S. Ranger / Marine Tiger Curse with his son-in-law.

As a member of Leatherwood Church in New Bethlehem, and later Asbury United Methodist Church near Strattanville, Bob taught many Sunday School classes and held various offices of the church. As a UMC Lay Pastor he was invited to share God’s word with numerous congregations.

Preceding Bob to eternal rest are his parents; siblings Viola Cunningham, Violet Jenkins, Geraldine Hollar, Wilson, Lester, and George Cunningham; twin infant sons; and his son, Randal R. Cunningham.

He will be lovingly remembered by his nephews Paul (Ellie) Cunningham and Phil (Carol) Cunningham; sisters-in-law Velma Lucas, Janice Weeter; and brother-in-law “Pete” Hartle; as well as many other extended family members.

Memorial donations may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, c/o Linda Heasley, 4346 C-L School Road, Strattanville PA 16258.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Saturday, September 13.
