Robert C. “Dirty Bill” Palmer

Robert C. “Dirty Bill” Palmer, 68 of Fairview Township, Mercer, passed away at his home on May 20, 2019. Bill was born in Grove City on October 15, 1950, to the late Dewitt and Marjorie Swickard Palmer. He was a 1968 Graduate of Lakeview High School and went to work as an Operating Engineer for the IUOE Local 66.

Bill married his beloved wife, Vicky Montgomery, on May 21, 1988, she survives at home.

Bill grew up on the family farm and attended Coolspring Presbyterian Church through his youth. He enjoyed hunting and building shanties for himself and for friends. Bill was a member of the Mercer American Legion Post 159. He was a fan of WWE and loved watching Monday Night Raw and Smackdown.

Bill was also a founding member of the ABATE Mercer County Chapter and a lifetime member. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and enjoyed taking trips to the Hazen ABATE state party, and to Daytona Beach for Bike Week. He was also a member of the NRA and the AMA. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed to go riding and drink beer with friends.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his beloved shih tzu, Levi, his brother Don Palmer and wife Patty of Sharon, nephews Tony and Andy Palmer, many great-nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Billy Davis, sister Debbie Swartzfager and her husband Jim, paternal grandparents Clarence and Carrie Palmer, maternal grandparents Robert and Jean Swickard, and nephew Freddie Palmer.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of STONEBORO, 99 Franklin Street, where family and friends are welcome from 1-4 pm on Saturday, May 25. A funeral service will follow visitation at 4 pm with Chaplain Bill Beck, officiating.

Interment will take place at a later date at West Side Cemetery, Sharpsville.
