Robert (Gayle) Hanst

2243fcda1d50f216Robert (Gayle) Hanst, 67, of Knox died at home on December 24, 2014 following an extended illness.

Born, March 26, 1947 in Grove City, he was the son of the late John and Mary Bell (Fleming) Hanst.

Gayle proudly served his country seeing combat two times. While in the Army, Gayle served in the Vietnam War. After being discharged from the Army he joined the National Guard where he served in Iraqi Freedom with the Oil City 1-07 Field Artillery, Battery C. Gayle retired after twenty years of military service. After retiring from the military, Gayle drove truck for Bauer Trucking. He was a member of the Clarion County Rod and Gun Club.

On February 14, 1998 he married Janet Rohr. Along with his wife, Gayle is survived by his two children, ZoAnn Hanst and Ashley Hanst both of Knox. He is also survived by five siblings, Bonnie Dodge of Erie; Sarah Lewis of Shippenville; Teresa Stamn of Clyde, Ohio; Gary Hanst of Reynoldsville; and Beatrice Heasley of Knox.

Along with his parents, Gayle was preceded in death by two brothers, John W. Hanst and Harry (Buck) Hanst, and one sister, Norma Murray. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Hahne Regional Cancer Center of Dubois or to Clarion Forest VNA Hospice.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 and Saturday, December 27 from 10-11 AM at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home, 504 East Penn Avenue, Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 27 in the funeral home.
