Robert Joseph Hegyi, 75 of Saegertown, died Monday, September 25, 2017, at the Marquette Hospice House in Meadville.

Born, March 31, 1942, in Meadville he was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Fitzer Hegyi.

He married Nancy F. Consla on November 7, 1970, and she preceded him in death on October 17, 2016.

He served with the US Army during the Vietnam War.

Bob worked with the Department of Agriculture for 34 years specializing in livestock disease control and retired in 2002.

He was a member of the Cochranton American Legion Post #836, was an avid sports fan, enjoyed playing 500 Rummy, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Robert J. Hegyi Jr. and his wife Patricia of Waynesburg, Joyce E. Sutton and her husband Sean of Kennett Square, Trina Shaw and her husband Tim of Atlantic, and Sonya Craig and her husband Kevin of Meadville. A sister, Emma Hulley of Cochranton, and eight grandchildren, Joseph and James Hegyi, Callie, Hunter and Bailey Craig, Dana and Tyler Shaw, and Brooke Sutton, and a great-granddaughter Katalyna Campbell.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends and family will be received at the DICKSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton on Thursday, September 28, from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm.

The funeral service will be 11:00 am, Friday from the funeral home with the Rev. David Brumagin, officiating.

Interment will be in the Cochranton Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Cochranton American Legion Post #836.

Memorials can be made in Bob’s name to the Marquette Hospice House, in care of the Crawford County Hospice, 446 Pine St., Meadville PA 16335
