Robert M. Hartzell, 78, of 457 Colbert Ave, Oil City, died at 6:45 pm, Thursday, June 7, 2012, at the Oil City Presbyterian Home.

Born August 6, 1933 at his home in Cranberry, he was a son of the late Melvin E. and Florence A. Confer Hartzell.

Mr. Hartzell was a graduate of Cranberry High School.

He served in the US Army.

Mr. Hartzell work as a machinist at Oilwell Supply for 35 years.

He was a member of the Oil City Eagles, where he enjoyed playing cards, the VFW, PNA and Pulaski Club.

On October 2, 1953 he married the former Mary Lou Nulph, who preceded him in death on October 6, 1985.

Surviving are three sons, Robert Hartzell and wife Tori of Wallaceville, Steven Hartzell and wife Kim of Oil City and Thomas Hartzell of Oil City; two daughters, Vicki Shutters and husband Dave of Swanton OH, and Donna Gibson of Eureka Ark.; four grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters; one sister, Helen Slagle of Cranberry; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, William Hartzell and Daniel Hartzell; two brothers, Harry E. Hartzell and James A. Hartzell; and one sister, Nancy Lockhart.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Heckathorn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a charity of one’s choice.
