Robert Richard Laughlin

Robert Richard Laughlin, 77, of 19059 Hillcrest Drive, Corry, PA passed away Wednesday February 6, 2019 at Corry Manor after a long fight with Parkinson’s Disease and a brief battle with pneumonia.

Born September 18, 1941 in Rimersburg, he was the son of the late Robert and Valjean (Mortimer) Laughlin.

Rich graduated from Union High School in 1959. While in school he played the tuba for the school band.

He married Cheryl G. Hawk at the Rimersburg United Methodist Church on May 27, 1967.

Rich spent a lot of his childhood years with his maternal grandparents, Claude and Pearl Mortimer.

They contributed to his strong religious convictions.

He also spent a large amount of time working with his grandpa Mortimer whom he learned responsible work ethics, which lead to his 50 years of service to Archway Cookie Company, where he was a Plant Manager for many years.

He was a member of the Rimersburg United Methodist Church and he was also a Supply Sergeant for the United States Army Engineer Reserve Unit in Brookville.

There was never a person that met Rich that didn’t love him. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was devoted to his brothers, sisters and many nieces and nephews.

He especially enjoyed taking care of his family. His hobbies included vacationing with his family.

Rich is survived by his wife Cheryl Genevieve, one son; Mark Laughlin and his wife Angie of Anderson, IN, one daughter; MaryEvelyn (Cissy) Pifer and her husband Joseph of Corry, PA, a brother-in-law/son, William (Bill) Hawk and his wife Rita of Elwood, IN, four grandchildren; Taylor Cooper and her husband Austin of Anderson, IN, Kourtney Krabbe and her husband Kenny of Lapel, IN, Hannah Laughlin of Anderson, IN, and Konner Kleinbub of St. Louis, MO, four great grandchildren; Dehlila, Kayleigh, Ella and Ethan. He is also survived by three sisters; Susan Davis and her husband Dave of Shippenville, Deb Johnson and her husband Bob of Rimersburg and Donna Hawk and her husband Gordon of Rimersburg, one brother; Beaser Laughlin and his wife Sherry of Sligo, two sisters-in-law; Anna Marie Laughlin of Sligo and Deb Laughlin of Shippenville and also many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister; Janie Lou Laughlin, two brothers; Jack and Denny Laughlin, maternal grandparents; Claude and Pearl Mortimer and his paternal grandparents, Ray and Bessy Laughlin.

Rich’s family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday February 9, 2019 at the Rimersburg United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will follow at the Rimersburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Bargar, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery.

The family suggest memorials be made to the Rimersburg United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in the name of Robert R. Laughlin, or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
