proposalFRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – What was supposed to be a simple get together with family and friends turned out to be a night Laurel Lovitt will never forget.

Imagine the shock Laurel, of Toledo, Ohio, experienced on Wednesday night while she was at King’s Family Restaurant in Franklin for dinner with Hunter Sanner’s family when firemen entered the restaurant and shouted that a Toyota Highlander with Ohio plates was on fire in the parking lot.

Instead of a fire, she got a proposition.

“I freaked out and ran out, and Hunter was right there, and he got down on his knees and proposed,” Laurel said.  “It was absolutely amazing. I also have a two-year-old little girl, Rey, and he had a ring for her, too, and asked if he could be her daddy.”

“It was a complete surprise.  I had no idea.  We had our friends and family there, and he said it was just a get together to see everyone. I had no clue when the firefighter came in and said a Toyota Highlander was on fire out in the parking lot, and it had Ohio plates.”

Of course, she said “Yes.”

Hunter explained a bit of the planning.

“I’m a member of Rocky Grove Fire Department and work for the City of Franklin. It was a surprise for her, and we brought down two fire trucks.”

Hunter said that the big date has not been set as of right now. Odds are that there will be a firetruck involved.

Planning is what the new fiancé does for a living, as she owns a character entertainment company in Ohio that organizes birthday parties and special events for kids.

She was shocked at Hunter’s ability to also plan special events.

“I don’t know how he pulled this off,” still smiling the next day.
