Roland JenningsRoland D. Jennings, 79, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Snyder Memorial Health Center, Marienville.

He was born May 26, 1937, in Bliss, NY, son of the late Ed Jennings and Gladys (Barber) Ford.

On July 3, 1958, he married Betty M. (Gardner) Jennings, who survives.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957.

He worked for the B&O Railroad, Chessie System, and CSX Transportation. He started as a Signalman and retired as a Signal Supervisor.

Roland was a graduate of Letchworth Central High School and enjoyed hunting, golfing, cutting firewood, gardening, playing cards and sports, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was known as “Norton” to his hunting buddies and “Poppy” to his grandchildren.

He was a member of the Elks, VFW, American Legion, and the Punxsutawney Country Club.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two sons, Jeff Jennings and wife Myrna of Punxsutawney, and Roger Jennings and wife Rita of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Dana Boozel and husband Adam, Jason Jennings, and Jordan Jennings; two sisters, Janet Moden of Canandaigua, NY, and Sue Sacco and husband Carm of Fairport, NY.

Funeral services will be private for the family.
