Rollover Crash Shuts Down Interstate 80, Stymies Area Traffic

MONROE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State Police in Clarion have released details on a Wednesday afternoon rollover crash that shut down a portion of Interstate 80 and stymied area traffic for several hours.

Edward J. Clouse, 64, of Butler, was traveling west on Interstate 80 around 2:56 p.m. in the area of mile marker 61.3 when his 2000 Ford F-250 traveled onto the right berm.

The vehicle, which was hauling a camper, then traveled across both westbound lanes and into the grassy median before crossing back over both lanes and rolling over.

It continued to roll until it landed on its roof on the berm. The camper came to a rest on its side, blocking both westbound lanes.

Clouse was transported to Clarion Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

He was issued a traffic citation for a lane violation.

Interstate 80 West was closed in the area of the accident for approximately 1 hour.

Traffic was backed up for several miles on I-80 West. Delays were reported on I-80 and other area roadways, including Route 322 and Route 66, as a result of the crash.

PennDOT, Clarion Fire & Hose Company No. 1, Clarion Hospital EMS, and Rustler Towing assisted at the scene.
