Ronald Gale MuirRonald Gale Muir, 80, of Shippenville, died on Monday, November 24, 2014, at his home.

Born on November 10, 1934 in Sligo; he was the son of Carrie P. Over Muir of the Golden Living Center in Clarion and the late Ronald M. Muir.

Gale was first married to Elva Atzeni, who preceded him in death. He was then married on September 16, 2000 to the former Alice L. Renninger Confer, and she survives.

A veteran, Gale served in the Army from 1957 to 1959 as a cook and truck driving while in Germany. He then served six years in the reserves. He also received the 4-58th Engineering Medallion.

In early years, he worked as a meat cutter at Putnam Market in Clarion and Fenoti Beverage. He then worked for Clarion Warehouse, where he retired.

Gale was a member of the Manor United Methodist Church in Shippenville.

He was also a past governor of the Moose Lodge 101 where he was also a member of the Legion of the Moose and Fraternal Order of Eagles 3807, both of Clarion. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Sligo Fire Company for twenty five years.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by two stepsons, Dick Atzeni and his wife, Brenda, of Sligo, and James Todd Confer and his wife, Helen, of Sigel; and a granddaughter, Hannah Atzeni.

Also surviving is a brother, John David Muir of California; two special nieces, who were also his caregivers, Sherry Hornberger and Donna Micoletti; and other numerous nieces and nephews.

Ronald was preceded in death by his father and first wife; a stepdaughter, Geraldine; a sister, Janet Muir.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014, at the Manor United Methodist Church in Shippenville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014, at the Manor United Methodist Church in Shippenville with Rev. Carol Brown, pastor of the Manor United Methodist Church, and Pastor Randy Evans, Clarion Forest VNA Hospice Chaplain, co-officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 66.

Interment will be held in the Cedarview Memorial Park Mausoleum in Strattanville.
