Ronald Becker JrRonald James Becker, Jr. passed away peacefully at home on March 8, 2017, after a short battle with cancer.

Born on December 15, 1960, in Lancaster, PA, Jim was the beloved son of Ronald J., Sr. and G. Joyce Root Becker, who survive him in the Lancaster area, along with his sister Karen A. Becker-Glatfelter, her husband Steve, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Married on May 1, 1980, he also leaves his loving wife, Marianne “Bernie” Schmidt Becker.

Jim graduated from Hempfield High School in 1978.

Until cancer made it impossible to work, Jim was employed by Franklin Bronze Plaques as the polymer technician and in shipping. Although he was a quiet man, he had a good sense of humor and great compassion for others. He will be missed by his fellow employees and friends.

He enjoyed “walking” cigars down his road, a good beer, fishing French Creek for whatever was biting and various lakes for Muskies, rock-n-roll concerts (especially AC/DC), traveling this country. But most of all, he loved time spent at home with his four-legged children, Hot Dog Penny and Corona.

At his request, there will be no services at this time. Donations can be made in Jim’s name to the Venango VNA Foundation (491 Allegheny Avenue, Franklin PA 16323) to support hospice care for those in need or to the Venango County Humane Society (PO Box 1045, Oil City PA 16301).

The Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin PA has been entrusted with arrangements.
