Rose Marie Daugherty

Rose Marie Daugherty, 76, of Paul Revere Road, Oil City, PA, died on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at her home following a period of declining health.

Born November 16, 1941, in Oil City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Rosella Thomas Homer.

Rose was a graduate of Oil City High School. On June 4, 1960, she married Lawrence D. Daugherty and he survives.

Rose had worked at Hileman & Woods in Oil City and later for American Greeting Cards in North Carolina. She and her husband lived in North Carolina for 34 years before returning to the area.

Rose belonged to St. Therese’s in North Carolina and currently was a member of St. Stephen’s Church. She volunteered in the soup kitchen in North Carolina.

Rose enjoyed working with stained glass, going to the beach, shopping, reading, and crocheting.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Scott Daugherty and his wife Mary of Oil City; grandchildren Matthew Daugherty and his wife Tiffany, Benjamin Daugherty, and Nicole Daugherty; a great-granddaughter, Faith; one sister, Carolyn Watson of Oil City; one brother, Clayton “Butch” Homer and his wife Sandy of Rocky Grove; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dean Watson.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, where Rose attended when she was a young girl, with Rev. John Miller, Presiding. Interment will follow in Brandon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Venango County Humane Society or to the Oil City Library.
