CLINTONVILLE, Pa. — A project to replace the 96-year old bridge that carries Route 208 over McKees Run in Clinton Borough and Clinton Township, Venango County will start next month.

The bridge is located on Route 208 about a half mile east of Route 308 and about one mile west of Pine Hill Road (Route 3005).

The existing bridge will be replaced with a precast concrete box culvert. Work is scheduled to start October 10, 2018, weather permitting.

A 15-day detour will be in place starting October 19, 2018. The detour will be posted using Route 308, Interstate 80, and Route 38.

The current bridge is a 17-foot-long concrete slab structure, which was built in 1922 and is classified as poor condition. On average, about 1,700 vehicles a day use the bridge.

The contractor is Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College, PA. The contract cost is $560,565, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.

This project was made possible by Act 89, Pennsylvania’s transportation funding plan.

PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
