OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — A short-term closure is scheduled next week for the bridge that carries Route 62 (Petroleum Street) over the Allegheny River in Oil City.

The closure is expected to be in place from 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2019, to 6:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2019, weather permitting.

A detour will be posted using Route 8, Seneca Street, Elm Street, and the Veteran’s Bridge.

The closure is necessary so that repairs can be made to the bridge as part of a group project that includes seven structures in Venango County. Work on the Route 62 bridge includes an epoxy overlay on the deck, and a sealer on the barriers and sidewalk.

Once the closure is lifted, motorists should expect to encounter daytime lane restrictions controlled by flaggers.

PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
