CRAWFORD CO., Pa. – A $2.6 million project that will give motorists a smoother ride on more than nine miles of roads in Crawford County is expected to begin next week.

Roads to be improved include:

  • Route 8 – from Mageetown Road (Route 1020) to Route 77 in Centerville Borough, Rome Township, Bloomfield Township, Steuben Township, and Athens Township. 6 miles.
  • Route 408 – from Guys Mills Road/Centerville Road (Route 1018) to Route 428 in Troy Township, Townville Borough, and Steuben Township. 3.58 miles.

Work will include milling and paving, along with curb ramps, drainage upgrades, guiderail, and pavement markings.

The contractor is Russell Standard Corporation of Union City, PA. The contract cost is $2,668,500, which is to be paid with federal and state funds.

This project is made possible by Act 89, Pennsylvania’s transportation funding plan.

Work is expected to start August 6, 2018, and is scheduled for completion by October 26, 2018.

No detours are anticipated, but motorists will encounter traffic lane restrictions controlled by flaggers.

PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
