Ruth Hughes Rea

Ruth Hughes Rea passed away March 4, 2015 at Sugar Creek Station after a brief illness.

Ruth was born April 14, 1918 in Oil City, PA., daughter of the late William F. Fischer & Susan Fox Fischer.

She graduated from Cranberry High School in 1937 and went on to graduate from Welch’s Business College.

Ruth had worked for the Social Security Administration and retired after 37 years of service.

She was married to Maurice Hughes in 1942 and he preceded her in death in 1989.

In 1990 she married Thomas E. Rea who died in 2002.

Ruth lived life to the fullest.

Surviving is her brother, Donald Fischer of Oil City, two sisters, Mildred Grandelis of Oil City, Cathryn Ann Ziegler of Oil City, and many loving nieces and nephews who were a part of her life.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Fischer, a sister-in-law, Elaine W. Fischer, 2 brothers in law, Albert Grandelis, and Norman Ziegler
and a nephew David Ziegler.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Sugar Creek Station for her wonderful care and Christin Allysworth her special caregiver.

They all were a channel of love.

A memorial Service will be held at the Seneca United Methodist Church in Ruth’s Honor and the glory of God and the time and date will be announced at a later date.
