Sally “Jean” Flockerzi

Sally “Jean” Flockerzi, 84, of Oil City, was reunited with the love her life, Pete, at 11:40 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017, while surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 21, 1933 in Oil City to the late Harold A. and Marion (King) Keenan.

She graduated in 1951 from Oil City High School.

Jean was active with the Oil City Lioness Club, the Siverly P.T.A., and served as a leader for the Brownie and Girl Scout Troops in Siverly. She was also a member of the “Good Sam Camping Club.”

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oil City.

Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. She also enjoyed bowling, golfing, camping, her “Lunch Bunch” friends, going to the casino, playing card games, traveling, and Pirates baseball.

In her earlier years, she worked at Wallace’s Bookstore in Oil City, before becoming a dedicated homemaker and caring for her family.

She was married in Oil City on July 19, 1952 to John E. “Pete” Flockerzi, and he preceded her in death on May 27, 2015.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Hessmer and her husband Jack of Versailles, Kentucky; and Susan Greenlee and her husband Jack of Oil City; and four grandchildren: Michael Schneider and his wife Diane of Oil City and their children Keelie and Karli; Karissa Shoup and her husband Nicholas of Oil City and their children, Makenzi and Austin; Jack Hessmer, III and his wife Clair of Delaware, Ohio and their son Jack Arthur Hessmer, IV; and Jack D. Greenlee, Jr. and his wife Tiffany of Cooperstown and their children Elizabeth, David, Nicole, and J.D.

Also surviving is her niece, Rose Adams and her husband Craig of Cranberry; her special friends, Ed and Georgine Cropp of Oil City and Gary and Sylvia Traister of Templeton; and a special caretaker, Ollie Vitka of Oil City.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Jack Keenan, a brother, Edward Keenan, and a sister, Shirley Keenan Morgan.

Friends will be received Sunday (Dec. 10th) from 1 – 3 and 6 – 8 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Monday (Dec. 11th) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark Rusnak, AseraCare hospice chaplain, officiating. Interment will follow in Venus Cemetery in Venus, Clarion County.

Jean’s family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to AseraCare Hospice, and Dr. Fee and Dr. Waine and their staff for providing excellent care and compassion during her illness.
