VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — Venango County Commissioner Samuel Breene was appointed an At Large Alternate Delegate to the Republican National Convention by Pennsylvania Republican Party State Chairman, Lawrence Tabas, Esq.

Breene was then unanimously voted for by the members of the Pennsylvania State Committee.

“I am honored to be chosen, highlighting Venango County, when there are far fewer At Large Delegates than there are counties in Pa. so it is a great honor to be selected as one of them for President Trump,” Breene said.

Breene was elected to the position of Venango County Commissioner in 2019. He previously worked for U.S. Congressman Mike Kelly of Butler, PA. In 2018, he served as Congressman Kelly’s campaign manager where he led him to a large victory in a hotly contested congressional race.

Prior to that, Breene served in Congressman Kelly’s official office as Senior Legislative Aide, Legislative Director with the Northeast Midwest Congressional Coalition, and Great Lakes Task Force and Director of Outreach.

Breene was a board member of Dougherty Breene International Inc. He is an elected Venango County Republican State Committeeman.

Breene was appointed to serve as an alternate, or fill-in, at-large delegate, meaning he will step up to vote at the convention in the case that one of the at-large delegates is unable to fulfill their duties.

The Republican party system has three delegate types: at-large delegates who represent all of the residents of a state, congressional district delegates that represent residents of a particular congressional district, and Republican National Committee Members who are automatically national convention delegates.
