Sandra I. Olson, 73, of Biddle Street, Kane, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the Communities at Indian Haven in Indiana, PA.

Born November 26, 1944, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of William and Irene Sockoloskie Ryan. On June 15, 1968, in Shamokin, she married Vernon B. Olson, who died in 2012.

Sandra graduated in 1962 from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Shamokin, then from Bloomsburg State Teachers College in 1966, and later attended Duquesne University. She taught English and Drama at the Sheffield Area Middle/High School for over thirty years. She belonged to St. Callistus Catholic Church in Kane, where she was a member of the Parish Choir and the Catholic Daughters of America. She also belonged to the Kane Senior Center, the Red Hat Divas of Kane and the Public School Employees Retirement System.

She is survived by sons Vernon L. “Monte” (Vickie) Olson of Monroe, N.C. and Douglas P. (Lisa) Olson of Pleasant Hills; a daughter Christina L. “Chrissie” Olson of Indiana, Pa.; a stepdaughter Pamela Schwenk of Pittsburgh; and sisters Mary Ann Kazlauskas of Croydon and Kathleen Richie of New Cumberland. Two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and six step great grandchildren also survive, as do several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death, besides her husband and parents, is a sister Christine Ryan.

Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. Callistus Catholic Church with the rev. William O’Brien, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Callistus Cemetery, Kane.
