VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — The thunderstorms that passed through the region on Saturday caused some minor problems in Venango County and the surrounding areas.
While Clarion seemed to avoid the brunt of the storms, a representative of Venango County Emergency Management stated that there were numerous trees reported down throughout Venango County Saturday evening.
The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh also received several reports of trees down in Venango County on Saturday evening, primarily north of Oil City.
“Those storms were very isolated in nature. We’ve had a lot of high dew points and it’s been abnormally warm so you tend to get these thunderstorms that just pop up,” Myranda Fullerton of the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh said.
In Clarion, the Clarion University Golden Eagles football game against California on Saturday afternoon was postponed for nearly two hours due to inclement weather and the threat of lightning.
Although Explore receive a reader report of tree limbs down in the Clarion area, a representative of Clarion County 9-1-1 said they did not receive any weather-related calls on Saturday.
