SASKATCHEWAN, Canada – A Canadian man with no salt to melt the ice on his frozen sidewalk turned to an unusual, but effective, method: a blowtorch.

The man was filmed Tuesday evening using a blowtorch to melt the transparent ice that covered the sidewalk in front of his home after freezing rain fell on his southern Saskatchewan neighborhood.
