SWETT, South Dakota — About $400,000 is apparently all it takes to own your very own town in South Dakota.
Lance Benson, the owner of the town of Swett, S.D., says he’s putting the unincorporated hamlet in Bennett County up for sale so he could focus on his business.
“Like I say, I hate to get rid of it,” he told the Rapid City (S.D.) Journal. “If I don’t sell it this first year, I would probably keep it.”
