CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Seneca man was arraigned late Wednesday night after allegedly strangling a woman and striking her in the face after a domestic argument.

Court documents indicate 40-year-old Jody Lee Hagan, of Seneca, was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey at 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, on the following charges:

– Strangulation — Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck, Felony 2
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary (two counts)
– Identification Card, Summary

He remains free on $10,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, in Venango County Central Court.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred at an apartment in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

According to a criminal complaint, Trooper Bingman, of the Franklin-based State Police, spoke to a known female victim around 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17.

The complaint notes the victim has a child with Jody Lee Hagan but resides in a separate apartment.

According to the complaint, the victim reported that around 5:30 p.m., she was at Hagan’s apartment when her four-year-old son swore at her. She said that she picked up her son to discipline him by spanking him, and Hagan began to argue with her about the discipline.

The victim reported that Hagan approached her from behind, placed his hand on her throat and squeezed, which prevented her from breathing normally. She then turned and faced Hagan, and he used the heel of his hand to strike her on the left side of her face, the complaint indicates.

Hagan then took their son, and the victim left the apartment.
