Seneca Man Behind Bars for Stalking Woman

PINEGROVE/CORNPLANTER TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Seneca man is currently behind bars after allegedly stalking a local woman.

Court documents indicate the Franklin-based State Police filed criminal charges against 58-year-old Jeffrey Donald Barletta.

Alleged Incident of Stalking on June 15

According to a criminal complaint, around 6:19 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, Franklin-based State Police were dispatched to a residence on Fertigs Road, in Pinegrove Township, Venango County, for a report of a trespass.

Police then spoke to a known female victim who reported that Jeffrey Barletta had arrived at the residence after being informed he was not welcome and being warned he was not to have any contact with her.

The complaint notes the victim told police that Barletta was informed he was not welcome after he was arrested in the past for stalking her.

Police then spoke to Barletta around 7:00 p.m.

According to the complaint, Barletta admitted to going to the residence to speak with the victim after being advised he was not welcome there. He also reportedly admitted to having been arrested in the past for stalking the victim and said the court had told him to have no further contact with the victim.

Barletta was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland at 9:30 p.m. on June 16, on the following charges:

– Stalking — Repeatedly Commit Acts To Cause Fear, Felony 3
– Defiant Trespass Actual Communication To, Misdemeanor 3
– Harassment — Course of Conduct With No Legitimate Purpose, Summary

He was then released on $15,000.00 unsecured bail.

Alleged Incident of Stalking on June 20

According to a second complaint, around 7:26 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, Franklin-based State Police were dispatched to a residence on Holiday Run Road in Cornplanter Township, Venango County, for a report of a man continuously stalking a known female victim.

The victim reported that Jeffrey Barletta drove past the residence multiple times in his red 2010 Chevrolet Impala and also backed into the driveway before speeding out of it heading south, the complaint states.

The victim said multiple other people also observed Barletta’s behavior.

Police then performed a query into the involved individuals and discovered that Barletta was arrested on similar charges five days earlier and was out on bail with specific conditions to have no contact with the victim.

Barletta was also reportedly advised multiple times by the victim and law enforcement that he was not allowed on the property.

Police then spoke with Barletta about the incidents, and he reportedly said he believed it was okay to go to the victim’s house “because it was Father’s Day.”

Barletta was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish at 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, on the following charges:

– Stalking — Repeatedly Commit Acts To Cause Fear, Felony 3
– Defiant Trespass Actual Communication To, Misdemeanor 3
– Harassment — Course of Conduct With No Legitimate Purpose, Summary
– Disorderly Conduct Engage in Fighting, Misdemeanor 3
– Trespass By Motor Vehicle, Summary

He was lodged in the Venango County Jail with bail denied due to being a “Threat to Society, Out on bail for similar charges,” according to the court document.

Preliminary hearings for the cases are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on June 23, with Judge Kirtland presiding, and 8:30 a.m. on June 30, in front of Judge Fish.

Court documents indicate Barletta was sentenced to three years of probation on a first-degree misdemeanor stalking charge in March of 2016. He was also ordered to complete VA Aftercare, attend AA and NA meetings, and have no contact with the victim in the case.
