Seneca Man Faces Assault, Terroristic Threat Charges Following Argument Over Beer

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. — A Seneca man is facing assault, terroristic threats, and related charges following a domestic violence incident that occurred in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

Court documents indicate that Franklin-based State Police filed criminal charges against 53-year-old Timothy Ronald Gruber, of Seneca.

According to a criminal complaint, Trooper Cirell, of PSP Franklin, was dispatched to Horsecreek Road in Cranberry Township for a report of a domestic violence incident.

The complaint states that upon arrival, Trooper Cirell spoke to the female victim. She stated that she was sitting on her friend’s porch while holding a one-year-old child on her lap and was engaged in an argument with Timothy Ronald Gruber. She said that he became infuriated and struck her in the forehead with a closed fist; she also indicated that Gruber said he wanted to “smash her face in” and “beat her face to a bloody pulp.”

According to the complaint, the victim said that Gruber was under the influence of alcohol, and the argument was over beer.

Trooper Cirell also spoke to a known individual who witnessed the assault against the victim and heard Gruber’s threats.

Gruber was arraigned at 3:33 p.m. on July 31 in Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office on the following charges:

  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 1
  • Terroristic Threats W/ Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2
  • Defiant Trespass Actual Communication To, Misdemeanor 3
  • Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary
  • Disorderly Conduct Engage In Fighting, Summary

Unable to post $50,000 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

He faces a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. on August 16 in Venango County Central Court.
