With graduation ceremonies being affected by the Coronavirus Pandemic, Explore Your Town, Inc. and several area businesses have teamed up to help recognize local high school seniors. Today’s featured graduating senior is Megan Hadden.

Name: Megan Hadden
School: Cranberry
Hometown: Oil City
Parents: Father Butch Hadden, step-mother Sharon hadden

About Megan: I’m a 2020 graduating senior at Cranberry Area High School. I’ve gone to Cranberry ever since I was in kindergarten, It’s very sad to see my senior year end like this. I’m a two-year varsity starter in basketball and a two-year varsity starter outfielder in softball.

School activities and sports:

– 3 team all-conference for softball
– Most improved player for softball
– All tournament team player for basketball
– 2020 honors graduate

Favorite teacher: Mrs. Barrett and Mr. Hubler

Favorite subject: Gym

Favorite memories from school: I have a couple and the first one would be being a D9 runner up my freshman year for softball then my 10th and 11th-grade year winning D9 and my 11th-grade year, going to the final 4 in states all for softball!
Another memory is definitely getting our new assistant principal Mr. Deemer! He definitely made my senior year memorable because he would always make fun of me, give me lots of nicknames, help me with whatever was going on and him always asking “Megs, where are you supposed to be?” while I was walking the hallways. But he wasn’t the only person to make my senior year memorable. I can say almost EVERY teacher has definitely had an impact on my senior year!

Another memory is watching Mrs. Turk fall in the hallway then she asked “Were you one of the sweethearts that helped me up?” and I said “Nope, I kept walking.”

Future plans: I plan to go right into the workforce!

Advice for future students: Don’t wish these years away! They go by in the blink of an eye, and you never know what could happen at any time! Also, get yourself involved! That’s something I never did until senior year, and I regret not doing it earlier because it makes high school so much better!!

Pets: 2 Cats, Lizzy and Lilly and 1 puppy, Liza

Favorite joke: Why do we tell actors to “break a leg”? Because every play has a cast.

Favorite bands: Blink-182

Favorite movies: Marley and me

Who is your favorite celebrity or athlete? Oh, this is hard. For college athlete, I’d have to say Journey Brown!! Professional athlete, Kobe Bryant. Singer, Mac Miller.

What is your least favorite cafeteria food? All of it, except mashed potato bowls.

Is cereal soup? Why or why not? No the real question is – Is SpaghettiOs a pasta or soup?

Toilet paper, over or under? Under

Thank you’s: I’d like to thank my brothers, my dad, my stepmom, and all of my family and friends for pushing me through everything! I’d like to thank all my coaches in basketball and softball for always being there for me and pushing me to do my best! I’d like to thank my teachers for helping me through not only school but my outside life! Especially Mrs. Barrett, because she was always the one I could go to for anything and she would help me out no matter what the situation was.

Anything else you’d like to include? Thanks for the memories Cranberry. It’s been real! Peace out!
