The building, owned by Allan Porco of Fryburg, houses Chelsea’s Hair House and four apartments.

Upon arrival, heavy smoke was present on the first and second floors of the building.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit, Shippenville-Elk EMS, UGI Gas Company, Penelec, and PSP Marienville were also called.

Knox Volunteer Fire Department and Shippenville-Elk Twp. Volunteer Fire Department were placed on standby.

The scene was cleared at 8:10 a.m.

It is believed that the fire started in the basement.

Chelsea’s Hair House was severely damaged. Two of the apartments sustained moderate damage.

The cause of the fire was not released.

No injuries were reported.

Chelsea’s Hair House was also severely damaged in April when a Venus man swerved to miss an animal on the roadway and crashed into the building.

For over 107 years, the building was the home to Schupp’s General Store until the business closed its doors in the summer of 2014.
