Sharon K. Best, 59, a resident of #5 Diamond Street, Rouseville, died peacefully at 4:35 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2016, in her home, with her husband by her side; following a period of declining health.

She was born December 9, 1956, in Oil City, a beloved daughter of Norma M. Lawrence Spence and the late Norman A. Spence.

Mrs. Best had worked for a number of years as a certified nurse’s aide in Tyrone, PA for 3 years and with the Golden Living Center in Altoona for more than 13 years, until failing health forced her early retirement.

First and foremost was her family. She looked forward to the many family gatherings and picnics and she especially enjoyed, believe it or not, cleaning her house! She loved playing computer games and the companionship of her red-nose pit bull/lab dog, “Hershey.” Sharon was an especially kind, caring and loving person whose presence will be forever missed by so many.

She was married August 16, 1983, to Nelson L. Best, Jr., who survives.

In addition to her beloved husband of 33 years, she is also survived by her son, Mitch Best and his wife Sara of Altoona.

Also surviving is her mother, Norma M. Shreve and her husband Donald of Oil City and by her brothers and sisters: her twin sister, Karen R. Wakefield and her husband Ed of Titusville, Steven A. Spence and wife Judy of Oil City, Brenda L. Umstead of Titusville, Gary E. Dennis of Oil City and his twin brother, Larry P. Dennis and his wife Lori of Altoona, Sue M. Shreve and her companion Bill Proper of Polk and Donald C. Shreve, Jr. of Oil City; in addition to many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public visitation.

Private family burial will be in Zion Union Cemetery, Richland Township.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin.
