Sheldon Dean Rossey, 92, of Reynoldsville, PA, died on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at his home in the Hazen area.

Born October 27, 1924, in Corsica, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond and Gertrude Coulter Rossey.

Sheldon was a graduate of Corsica High School. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U. S. Army in Europe. He obtained the grade of T-5 and received the Good Conduct Medal, American THR Service Medal, EAME THR Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, and Victory Medal.

After the death of his first wife Elizabeth McCowen in 1990, he was remarried to Gwen Keys on March 10, 1991. She survives in Hazen. Sheldon was an automobile salesman and had a glass replacement business in Brookville, PA until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Corsica, PA. He enjoyed riding snowmobiles and 4 wheelers and mowing the lawn.

Along with his wife, he is survived by three step-children, William Keys of Hazen, Vickie (Bob) Trnavsky of Erie, PA, and Beverly (Marvin) Pember of Phoenix AZ. Also surviving are two brothers, Barry (Evelyn) Rossey of Brookville, PA, Norris “Skip” (Nancy) Rossey of Spokane WA, two sisters, Thelma Alcorn of York, PA, Nancy Rossey of Corsica, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, David, a daughter, Kathy, four brothers, Fred Wardell, Clair, Ted, and Bob Rossey and a sister Jane Wolfgang.

There will be a visitation on Saturday, September 30, 2017, from 9 AM to 11 AM at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Corsica.

Funeral services will immediately follow visitation at 11 AM with the Reverend Don Henderson of the Good Shepard United Methodist Church of Hazen officiating.

Interment with graveside services and Honor Guard will be in the Mt. Pleasant Independent Cemetery, Union Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Furlong Funeral Home, Gregory K. Furlong, FD, Broad Street and 1st Ave, Summerville, PA.
