Shirley A. Shutt

Shirley A. Shutt 82 of Shalersville passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017.

She was born April 12, 1935 at her grandparents home in Franklin, PA. The daughter of Lawrence “Bus” and Anna (Orseno) Hovis.

Shirley graduated from Franklin High School in 1953 and worked at the Manifold and Printing Company until she moved to Ohio with her late husband James Shutt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James and a brother Anthony “Butch” Hovis.

Shirley was an avid bowler in Portage County Leagues and Tournaments for many years, winning the Firestone PRO-AM Tournament of Champions in Akron in 1978.

She was a member of the Chicken Manor and Bill White’s Leagues for many years.

She also was an avid Steeler fan.

She is survived by a sister in law Lois Hovis and nephew Tony of Oil City, PA, other cousins in PA and friends Delores Hollenbach, Darlene and Blaine Dubrock and David Quist.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville Twp., Ohio with Reverend William Snyder officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Portage County SPCA (Animal Protect League) PO Box 927, Ravenna, Ohio 44266.
