Shirley Ann Dittman

Shirley Ann Dittman, 84, of Dittman Drive, Oil City, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at the Caring Place in Franklin where she had resided for the past month.

Born January 9, 1935, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Mabel Jarzenski Benson of Reno.

She attended and graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1953.

Shirley was employed for many years by, and retired as a secretary in the Oil City School District, last at the Hasson Heights Elementary School.

On September 25, 1953, she was married at Zion Lutheran Church in Oil City to Howard B. Dittman formerly of Emlenton, who survives.

Mrs. Dittman was active at Trinity United Methodist Church and had worked on the Lenten Lunches for the church for many years and also helped with funeral dinners provided by the church. Shirley was Past President of the AKSHES, ladies auxiliary of the Acacia Grotto of Oil City. For 25 years, she also served refreshments for the Scottish Rite Masons, Venango Lodge of Perfection in Oil City at their regular monthly meetings.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Sharon Wise of Oil City; three grandchildren, Samantha Culp and her husband Nick of Marble, Benjamin Wise in the US Army in Qatar, and Shane Keith of Marion Center; and two great-grandchildren, Copelin and Rylan Culp of Marble.

Also surviving are two sisters, Charlotte Stone of Oil City, and Patty Myers of Franklin; a brother, Carl Benson of Portland, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Mark Dittman; a granddaughter, Grace Wise; a brother, Thomas Benson; and a special aunt, Sara Persing.

Friends will be received at the Morrison Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Heckathorn Cemetery.
