Shirley B. Snyder, 88, a resident of 1220 Chestnut Street, Franklin died peacefully at 9:45 AM on Friday, December 29, 2017, in Sugarcreek Station, following a period of declining health.

She was born November 12, 1929, in Rouseville, a beloved daughter of the late: Karl E. and Agnes J. Cavanaugh Baker.

She attended the Franklin area schools and graduated from Franklin High School in 1947.

Shirley had worked as a clerk in the Venango County Assessment office for more than 18 years, before retiring January 1, 1995.

For more than 70 years, Shirley was a faithful member of The First Presbyterian Church in Franklin.

She enjoyed music, dancing, bowling and spending time with family and friends. She also liked to play cards and always looked forward to going out to eat lunch with her “lunch bunch”.

She was married in Franklin on June 17, 1950, to William L. “Bill” Snyder, who preceded her in death on April 20, 2006.

She is survived by two sons: Larry N. Snyder and his wife Mary and Jay R. Snyder, all of Austintown, OH; in addition to 4 grandchildren: Elizabeth Rose Snyder and Sarah Catherine Mullins, Jay Michael and Jennifer Grace Snyder; three great-grandchildren: Easton and Gannon Mullins and Jaelie Snyder, in addition to many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Shirley is also survived by her “special cousin”, Janet Lolley of Rouseville and by a “special nephew”, Dan Black and his wife Marsha of Michigan.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Karol Ann Kasper and by her brother, Ted Baker.

Family and friends may call Wednesday from 11 until 1 PM in the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin; where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 PM in the funeral home with Reverend Barry Jenkins, pastor of The First Presbyterian Church in Franklin, officiating.

Private burial will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, Cranberry.
