Shirley Confer

Shirley Confer, 82, of Stow OH, passed away August 26, 2017, at Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, OH after a lengthy illness.

Born on September 21, 1934, in Marble she was the daughter of Louis and Ethel Amsler Hoffman.

She was a 1953 graduate of North Clarion High School.

Shirley was married to Donald L. Confer who preceded her in death on May 27, 2017

She attended Faith Lutheran Church in Venus and St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Stow OH.

Shirley worked at Seneca Bank in Oil City and then later she moved to Northwest Bank in Franklin PA.

When she was not working Shirley enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and working with organizations that rescue retired racing Greyhounds.

She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Nursery Chapter 25 in Franklin.

Shirley is survived by her sons Barry Confer and his wife Jenifer of Stow OH, and Brent Confer and his wife Sandy of Ravenswood WV. Grandchildren surviving include Joel, Maria, Johanna, Jeffery and Rob Confer. Siblings surviving include sisters Carolyn Jagielski of Venus and Linda Griebel of Wichita KA; and brothers Leonard (Sonny) Hoffman and wife Verna of Shippenville; Robert Hoffman and wife Sandra of Boca Raton FL; Henry (Skip) Hoffman and wife Marie of Oil City; Rex Allen LaCaze and wife Lynda of Albion. She is also survived by sister-in-laws Janet LaCaze and Becky Hoffman both of Fryburg; Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, her step-mother Erla Hoffman, a sister Barbara Hoffman Kennedy, brothers Randall Lee LaCaze, William T. Hoffman, and brother-in-laws, Al Kennedy, Don Griebel and Rich Jagielski.

Friends will be received at the Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg on Saturday, September 2, 2017, from 2-4pm.

Funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 2, 2017, in the funeral home, with Rev. Deborah Jacobson Interim Pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, presiding.
