Shirley PaxtonShirley M. Paxton, 82, of 430 Oak Road, Oil City, died Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Oil City Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

Born November 1, 1934 in Pardoe PA, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Edith Boyd Paxton.

Shirley retired February 1, 1999 after 30 years at Franklin Hospital as head cook.

She was a member and Deacon at the Hasson Heights Community Church.

Shirley enjoyed the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.

Surviving are her son, William Paxton and wife Cynthia of Oil City; three grandchildren, Ashley Gable and husband Eric, Wesley Paxton and wife Meghan, and James Paxton; and 6 great grandchildren, Hunter, Lilly, Jaden, Ella, William and Debbie.

Also surviving are two sisters, Anna Louise Braham of Grove City, and Eileen Opitz and husband Gordan of Sandy Lake; and several nieces and nephew.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 3 pm Sunday with the Rev. Jamie Fowler, officiating.

Interment will be in the Shaw Farm Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the VNA Foundation, 491 Allegheny Blvd, Franklin PA 16323.
