To qualify for the State Games of America, swimmers must place in the top three in one of their events.

Charlie Motter, Morgan Stover, Emily Russell, and Madyson Kissell qualified last year for this year’s State Games of America in Lynchburg, VA.  They will represent Pennsylvania swimming with 14,000 other athletes in a wide variety of sports at Liberty University on August 3-4, 2019.

The six swimmers represent the Oil City YMCA River Otters Summer Swim Team and are coached by Jennifer Kissell-Dudek.  The summer team consists of 51 swimmers who have worked daily since June to prepare for meets.  Over 20 swimmers are new to the program.

The Oil City YMCA hosted a summer swim meet in July, which was the first meet for many of the swimmers. Many swimmers had personal bests and learned a lot about the sport. The Titusville YMCA hosted a meet in July and the swimmers continued to grow and develop as a team.

The Oil City YMCA River Otters will return to the regular season in September.

“I’m expecting our biggest year ever,” said Coach Jennifer Kissell-Dudek.  “Last year we had over 80 kids on the team.  We’re expecting around 20 new swimmers this season.

“It’s exciting to see the team grow.”
