Somers Dentistry Acquires Refresh Dental in Oil City

| June 30, 2016

SomersSENECA, Pa. – Somers Dentistry, LLC in Seneca has acquired the practice of Refresh Dental in Oil City beginning July 5, 2016.

(Pictured, left to right: Dr. David Somers, DDS and his son Dr. Mitchell Somers, DMD of Somers Dentistry, LLC announce they have acquired the dental practice of Refresh Dental in Oil City.)

Both Dr. Mitchell Somers and Dr. David Somers are pleased to work with Refresh Dental patients and offer dental care for themselves and their families.

“We have a great deal of respect for the staff at Refresh Dental and for Dr. Robert DeShong who brought Refresh Dental to his long-time location on Petroleum Street, so it’s an honor that we were chosen to be their partner as they transition out of the business,” says Dr. Mitchell Somers.

Refresh Dental opened in 2012 at 215 Petroleum Street where longtime dental practice Tomorrow’s Dentistry Today was, owned by Dr. Robert DeShong. DeShong practiced dentistry in Oil City for over 35 years. He retired in 2014, but remained a partner in Refresh Dental.

Dr. Lee Feinberg, DDS, who previously had a private practice in Pittsburgh, served patients at Refresh Dental’s Oil City office.

Somers Dentistry has been serving the area for 37 years. Dr. David Somers opened his practice in Oil City, Pa. upon graduating from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1979. He relocated to his current location in Seneca, PA in 2000 to accommodate his growing practice.

Dr. David Somers says, “I’m proud of the way we’ve grown our practice and I’m even prouder to be able to work alongside my son as we evolve and constantly improve our practice. It’s exciting, and helps our patients to have two dentists at the practice.”

Dr. Mitchell Somers joined his father at Somers Dentistry in 2012 bringing expertise in the area of oral surgery to the practice. “I really like the precision involved in oral surgery, and the feeling you get from helping someone who is afraid of the dentist. No one likes having dental work done, but we try to make our patients as comfortable as possible,” explains Dr. Somers.

He graduated from Juniata College with a B.S. in Chemistry and pursued his dental education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 2009. He previously worked at dental practices in Altoona and State College.

“I came from a practice in State College where the environment was really fast-paced all the time, and you saw a large number of patients in one day. You gain valuable experience being exposed to so many cases in a very short time frame.”

Somers Dentistry practices both general and cosmetic dentistry, and has recently invested in the addition of two exam rooms, new technology, and building an experienced dental care team. Dr. David Somers says, “The staff at Somers Dentistry average 15 years of experience in the dental field, and participate in continuous training to make sure they are always ready to serve patients no matter their concerns or needs.”

While Refresh Dental patients have received letters from the practice announcing the transition, Somers Dentistry will be reaching out to Refresh Dental patients as well.

Patients of Refresh Dental who may have questions about this transition can call Somers Dentistry Monday through Friday at (814)-676-1849.
