Stanley F. Warcholik

Stanley F. Warcholik, 89, of Big Egypt Road, Franklin, PA, died Sunday, February 11, 2018, at his home after a brief illness.

Born October 4, 1928, in Oil City, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Julia Chmiel Warcholik.

Stanley went to Assumption Grade School and was a graduate of Oil City High School. He entered the United States Navy on Oct. 18, 1945, and served on the USS Prometheus and Received the World War II Victory Medal. He was discharged in June of 1946. He reentered the Navy in 1948 and served several more enlistments serving on the U.S.S. Schmitt before entering the Naval Reserves and separating in 1968.

Stanley had worked for the Oil City and Knox Glass Plants before retiring from Joy Manufacturing where he worked as a tool designer.

On September 18, 1965, he was married to the former Loretta M. Whalen, and she survives.

Stanley was a member of St. Stephen’s Church, where he ushered for over 44 years. He was also a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the Knights of Columbus #385, the Fourth Degree Assembly and was a member of their Color Guard. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and gardening.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Paul Warcholik and his wife Donna of Rockland, Vince Warcholik of Franklin, and Eileen Douglas and her husband Kirk of Oil City; one grandson, Peter “Tony” Warcholik; one grandaughter, Laney Douglas; one sister, Mary Winters of Franklin; and two nephews, Joe Winters and Stan Winters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a baby sister Stella and a nephew John Winters.

Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Stephen’s Church.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with Full Military Honors accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.
