State Police Calls: PFA Violation, Theft

police-2VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) – Franklin-based State Police responded to the following call:

PFA Violation/Theft in Cranberry Township

This crime occurred around 10:53 a.m. on August 27, as 43-year-old Donald Joseph Swearingen allegedly violated a PFA (Protection From Abuse) Order on Foreman Street, in Cranberry Township.

While at the victim’s residence, he allegedly entered the victim’s car and took it without permission, according to police.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Swearingen, and at approximately 10:40 p.m. on August 27, Sugarcreek Borough Police spotted the stolen vehicle on Route 8 & 62 in Reno and initiated a felony traffic stop.

Swearingen was the only person in the car.

He was arraigned at 12:15 p.m. on August 28 before District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey on the following offenses:

– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Felony 2
– Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 2

Unable to pay $50,000.00 straight bail, Swearingen was committed to the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on August 31 in Venango County Central Court.
