State Police Investigate Cranberry Township Crash

| December 11, 2017

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police investigated a two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred Saturday afternoon on State Route 157, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

Police say a Honda Accord was traveling east on Route 157 looking for a residence when it began to turn left and crossed the center line. A second vehicle, a 2016 Jeep Compass was traveling west and swerved right to avoid a collision with the Accord.

The driver of the Compass lost control, drove through a yard, and hit a small tree, police say.

A passenger in the Accord said the driver had not crossed the center line and that the driver of the Jeep swerved hard, causing the crash, according to police.

A witness following the Accord said the car had crossed the line into oncoming traffic, police say.

State Trooper Matthew Shiley determined the driver of the Accord had crossed the center line and caused the accident. The driver was charged with a traffic violation.

The occupants of the vehicles were not identified.

No injuries were reported in the crash.
