PINEGROVE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — State Police in Franklin are investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred Tuesday morning in Pinegrove Township, Venango County.

Police say this crash occurred around 6:20 a.m. on August 8, south on Camp Coffman Road, at its intersection with Fertigs Road, in Pinegrove Township, Venango County.

According to police, a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling at a speed greater than reasonable and failed to stop at the stop sign. Instead, the car slid through the intersection, exited the right side of the roadway, and struck a National Fuel Gas pipeline marker. The car continued forward and drove over railroad ties. The car continued into a yard where it damaged two small bushes. It then continued through the yard and headed toward Fertigs Road and struck a cherry tree and headed west, fleeing the scene.

Police say the car was located parked in the driveway of a residence approximately 1/4 mile from the crash scene. The vehicle had evidence consistent with the items that were struck.

According to police, the registered owner of the vehicle denied any knowledge of the crash.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded so a complete and thorough investigation can be completed, police say.
