MERCER COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) — According to Pennsylvania State Police, on Thursday a Carlton man was found fatally shot outside a burned-out van on Hollabaugh Road in French Creek Township, Mercer County.

Police say they found 58-year-old David A. Dignall — a Cochranton-area businessman — partially burned lying outside his burned Ford Aerostar Van around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

According to police, Dignall was pronounced dead at the scene by the Mercer County coroner’s office.

Police say an autopsy performed by Erie County Coroner’s office ruled the manner of death as a homicide; he died from a single shotgun wound to the back.
