State Police Report iTunes Scam

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say a scam occurred on Monday in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

According to police, on Monday, May 21, an Oil City man received an Apple security breach warning on his iPhone.

The victim contacted the scammers who claimed to be from the Apple Tech Department.

The victim purchased $100.00 in iTunes cards at Walmart in Cranberry Township to get the item removed from his phone.

After paying the amount, the actor(s) requested more money.

The victim then went to the local AT&T store and was advised it was a scam.
