State Police Respond to DUI Crash in Cranberry Township

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say a DUI crash occurred early Sunday morning at the intersection of State Route 257 and US 322, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

According to police, this crash occurred around 12:05 a.m. on Sunday, February 25, at the four-way intersection at State Route 257 and US 322 in Cranberry Township.

A vehicle driven by a known, 65-year-old Franklin man was stopped on a flashing red light signal. A second vehicle was traveling west on US 322.

Police say the Franklin man was making a left-hand turn onto US 322 when he failed to yield the right of way to the second vehicle as it was traveling through the intersection on a flashing yellow light. The first vehicle then collided with the second vehicle.

The first vehicle had minor damage, and the second vehicle sustained disabling damage.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the Franklin man was suspected of DUI. He was taken to UPMC Northwest for BAC (Blood Alcohol Content).

DUI and related charges are pending.

The name of the Franklin man was not released.
