State Police Seeking Information on Secret Shopper Scam

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police are seeking information in a case of theft by deception.

According to police, the crime occurred as a known 60-year-old Franklin man was a victim of an Internet Secret Shopper Scam.

The victim was contacted via email and told to perform certain purchases from a local mercantile establishment. After performing these purchases, he was instructed to wire transfer a set amount of money to the perpetrator in Texas.

Anyone with questions regarding the validity of any programs from such establishments is reminded to directly contact the establishment to confirm the validity of the program.
