FOREST CO., Pa. (EYT) — State Police have issued the following press release warning residents of Forest, Clarion, and Jefferson Counties of a phone scam.

Marienville-based State Police have received information that a possible phone scam is targeting local residents in the area.

Once contacted, scammers are pretending to be close family members that are in financial or legal trouble. Scammers then request victims send money via money order.

PSP Marienville would like to make the public aware of these scams and are asking residents to not send money without first verifying with said family members.
